Animation Motion Path

Click on Motion path to see my animated motion path.

This ended up being a pretty cool activity once I figured it out. I think I can actually be more creative with this activity but I need to spend some more time with it. Really I figured out some thing from the previous activity (labels) that I didn't know how to do. I will go back and fix some of the mistakes that I made on that activity.

This correlates to ISTE NETS S # 6 : Students demonstrate creative thinking and apply existing knowledge to generate new ideas, products, and processes. Create original works as a means of personal expression.

Labels

Click on Labels to see my powerpoint with labels.

This may have been one of the toughest assignments yet and I am not sure that I did it correctly. It was a short assignment but a tough one. I did not have the newest version of Microsoft Powerpoint and it was not allowing me to use and/or see all the icons that I needed to complete the assignment. Grouping was somewhat hard and then trying to figure out the labels was difficult also.

Ignite

Click on Presentation to see my PowerPoint on the Fitnessgram.

This is a really neat idea. I know it is nothing really new but the idea of making it only 5 minutes forces you to be creative and get as much information out as possible in short amount of time. Being a P.E. teacher I decided to do mine on the Fitnessgram. The Fitnessgram is a test mandated by the state to test students physical abilities.

I think this type of presentation will be good to use during school "open house" or "parent" conferences where parents go from room to room to meet the teacher for a short 10 to 15 minute period. This will allow me to show parents what we do or what goals we are looking to achieve in P.E. class.

ISTE NETS T #2: Teacher designs, develops, and evaluates authentic learning experiences and assessments incorporating contemporary tools and resources to maximize context learning. Provide students with multiple and varied formative assessment aligned with content and technology standards.

Powerpoint

This assignment wasn't too bad because I have had some previous classes involving powerpoint. The hardest part was trying to remember all the different graphics that you could add in to make it better. I still struggled to do a few things that would probably make it better. For instance I would have liked to use some sound effects and maybe some animation but I wasn't able to figure those out. I know I can do it because I have some other powerpoints with these effects.

I decided to do my presentation on a basketball theme. I can use this both in my classroom and during basketball camps for little kids. It is the basics of basketball and little kids love to see the different images. Hopefully I can get a chuckle or two out of them.

Things like powerpoint displays are also good to have in lesson plans because it counts for having technology in your lesson plans. Administration really likes this.

This assignment compares to ISTE NETS T #1: Facilitate and Inspire student learning and creativity. Teachers use technology to facilitate experiences that advance student learning, creativity, and innovation in both face-to-face and virtual environments.

Jing Screencast

Click here or on the video above to see how to create a blog account.

This is a very handy tool to have. Although I did not find myself very creative or very good at the Jing Screencast tool I think I could grow to really like this tool the more I play with it. It could be a very useful way of sharing lots of information in a very quick way. I guess I find it so appealing because I a small portion of me that likes to see things as well as do them in order to learn. This allows you to see the steps needed to complete a task.

You can save both images and videos in Jing. The images are saved in a PNG file and the video is saved in an SWF file. These files can be found in the Jing History, screencast.com, and/or your desk.

In order to retrieve these files or upload them to the blog you must go in and add the embed tool. At that point when you share it, it will give you the embed code that can be cut and pasted into video attachment.

I would compare this to ISTE NETS T #3 Model Digital-Age Work and Learning
Teachers exhibit knowledge, skills, and work processes representative of an innovative professional in a global and digital society. Teachers demonstrate fluency in technology systems and the transfer of current knowledge to new technologies and situations

Jing #1 Image

I am a physical education teacher and high school basketball coach. I decided to do something that will help me in the future. Click on Jump Shot to see the image up close.
Jing will be very helpful to me in my teaching and coaching career. Anytime you can show a student the correct way to do it then it is easier for them to understand what you want from them. Jing is much needed now that I am starting to get older. I use to do all the demonstrations myself. The body just doesn't want to maneuver the way it used to.
I am getting ready to have a basketball camp for girls grades 2-5. I will use this image when instructing that part of the camp.

This activity is related to ISTE NETS T #5 . Teachers continuously improve their professional practice, model life long learning and exibit leadership by promoting and demonstrating the effective use of digital tools. Teachers also contribute to the effectiveness, vitality, and self renewal of the teaching profession and of their school.

Self Assessment

Just realized that I did not make a post to my blog about the Self Assessment assignment. I completed the survey by the 8th or 9th but forgot to do the post.

I will duplicate most of what I said in the comment section of the survey. I feel that this was an excellent assignment. Like many others I felt that I was doing a great job and just cruising through the course then I did the survey. I wasn't too far off but had a lot of little things that needed to be completed to make the assignments better. You kind of say to yourself, "oh what does it matter" but it really does. After you go back and make the needed changes, things do look and work better.

I then started to scan down through the assignment page to see if we had another self assessment that would help us out later in the class. Much to my dismay we do not have another self assessment. We do however, have a peer assessment. We will have to wait and see if that will help us catch up or not.

This assignment relates to ISTE NETS T #2: Teachers design, develop, and evaluate authentic learning experiences. Provide students with multiple and varied formative and summative assessments designed with content and technology.

Google Drawing Tool

Click here to see picture up close.

I guess I can honestly say this is the first drawing program I have ever used. I have used lots of different program on the computer but never ever used a drawing program before and this may show proof.

I don't know that I can give a fair judgement on this assignment. Something was wrong with my browser, even after I uploaded a new one, because when I used the google draw tool I could not see what tools I was using. The only way I could use it was to use a tool the best I could and then use the print preview tool to see where it was. I did a lot of guessing and it took forever to complete. It is not the neatest but I tried to use a variety of tools. At this point I do not like Google Draw but I will try it again later to give it a fair chance.

This activity relates to ISTE NETS T # 2. It designs learning experience that incorporate digital tools to promote student learning. It allows students to customize and personalize learning activities. To address students diverse learning styles and abilities to use digital tools.

Glogster

To check out my glog click here.

A glog provides an online poster creator which enables video and audio to be added to the poster.

You can use glog basically like you use a blog. You could use this in your classroom for students to keep in touch over the summer months, a way to communicate, or even a way to turn in assignments or presentations during snow days.

In ISTE NETS T- it compares to both #1 and #2. The teacher is designing and developing the learning experience so that it will facilitate and inspire the students learning. Technology like this helps to keep students motivated. We as adults have to continue to find ways like this to be able to communicate with the students.

The only problem I see with it is that it is to much like "youtube". This will need to be parental monitored very strictly. Students can share to much information on this site including visual information.

Picassohead

Here is the link to the Picasso website.

I really enjoyed playing with this site. It is even more interesting to view the portraits that are saved to the gallery. Some are funny and some are scary.

You can get as involved with this site as you want. You could actually spend hours and hours on a portrait to make it as perfect or goofy as you want. You just have to be willing to take the time to enlarge, shrink, flip, and rotate as much as you need. You can tell by my picture that I am bald. In real life I have a head full of hair but it was taking me too long to place every piece of hair where it needed to be.

Overall I had lots of fun and enjoyed it. Try it.

snipping tool

Wow this was a struggle for me to complete this task. I was having trouble uploading the image. What threw me for the mistake was the fact that when I uploaded my image to my blog, it didn't actually show the picture until I viewed my post. It just showed a lot of code letters and I was confused.

Since I had so much trouble with uploading this assignment I thought I would go ahead and snip the assignment where it showed me how to use the snipping tool and post it on my blog.

Learning Styles

The inventory says that I am a Kinesthetic Learner meaning that I like to do things in order to learn. Before I took this inventory I would have only agreed with this partially. I guess it was pretty close. All of my numbers were about the same. I would have thought that my visual numbers would have been higher. I usually like to see something before I try it but I definitely like to be hands on. I am a P.E./sports guy and we like to get involved and figure things out on our own through a trial and error process.

VoiceThread

This is my first experience with voicethread. I really enjoyed using voicethread even though I wasn't able to as creative as I wanted to be. I would have rather used a microphone to record my message but my microphone is broken. I reluctantly used text to answer the question in order to satisfy the request. I think this is an excellent tool.

I would consider this activity to be most like: Design and Develop Digital age learning experience and assessment. It incorporates digital tools needs and used in the 21st century and provides students with creativity. Voicethread provides an assessment with computer and technology standards. Students can customize and personalize learning activities.

VoiceThread is the transforming of media into collaborative spaces with video, voice, and text commenting. It can be used by teachers and students to communicate. It gives multiple ways of response such as texting, voice, video, and drawing. Students are not limited to a specific response tool.

Google Docs

The following address has my teaching resume. I already had a resume so I just uploaded the one I had to save time. I probably could have used a template from google docs and made it more attractive but I didn't. I apologize in advance. I originally could not get it to link up but now that I have had some help from Dr. Pierce and April it is very easy to access. This can be very helpful. In the past I have simple had to email and even use U.S. postal service to send resumes out. This will let me simple send the address and employers can have my resume in minutes. Click here to see my resume.
